Im going to warn you all that I know VERY little about cars before you even read what Im going to write.

We recently bought a 1994 5 speed V6 Camaro. My boyfriend did a complete tune up and oil change when he got it a couple of months ago. A few days ago it decided to not start. After messing with it for a while he (and his father) figured out that if one of the plugs was pulled it would arc and the car would start. After the car is started they just put the plug wire back on and the car ran perfect. They decided to replace one of the coil packs, after replacing it the car would no longer start even if they pulled one of the plugs and let it arc. So they took the new coil pack off. We have taken the car to two auto zones and asked them to plug their little machine into it to see if they could diagnose it but they said they cant unless the check engine light is on. The check engine light does come on, but it comes on randomly and then shuts off. My boyfriend also checked to see if the car would start from rolling, he had it going, shut it off, and turned the key while the car was rolling and it started right back up without having to do the plug trick.

I apologize if my post is completely confusing, like i said I know almost nothing about cars, im simply trying to get some advice.

Does the motor crank over but will not fire up?....Or, does nothing happen when you attempt to start it?....That spark plug wire trick has nothing to do with anything!
