A short trip down to the corner market and back will cause my 97 SS to gurgle and coolant boils over and out of the overflow tube. The temp gauge doesn't go past straight up and I still have this problem. Replaced the water pump and thermostat last July. My mechanic says I need to have the radiator taken out and cleaned or replaced. Does anyone have any other suggestions, or should I just bite the bullet and take it to a radiator shop?

I would flush the rad and that thero again.

Maybe just a bad cap, or it is low on coolant, engine is hot.. boils over, and gauge does not show it.

replace the cap.

it may sound stupid BUT did you hit curb and wipe out lower spoiler on car. if you did theres your problem the spoiler acts like a scoop and puts air in radiator to cool down
