I have asked something like this before but need some specific info. Of the member's cars with a/c, which ones are using kinda solenoid actuator on the carburator linkage to compensate the lost rpms when the a/c compressor is on? If I have the model and year of the car, then I can ask for it, let say at Peop Boys. Did some of you have installed such solenoid/actuator on a Holley carb? I don't want the engine RPMs too high when the a/c is not in use. Any help/suggestions?

I know my 72 Camaro came stock with one. It was actually used as an anti-dieseling solenoid but there's no reason why you couldn't make it work. With 12V to it the plunger comes out and kicks the throttle open a little, which is adjustable. Just tie it in to the A/C power wire going to the compressor.

Sumitt and Jegs have generic versions of these available. Not sure if the cost is in line with a model specific part.

First generation Camaros didn't use idle compensators with A/C, and you couldn't get A/C in a car equipped with a Holley carb (Z28 and L78/L89s).

Idle speed isn't affected in my car by the A/C compressor turning on.

I've used solenoids before on Holleys for several applications. You can buy the parts directly from them or any speed shop. The mount bracket is #20-72 for 4150 and #20-58 for 4160 type, the Solenoid is #46-51 (there are several others but I've only used this one) and you will need a lock nut #26-57 for the solenoid to hold it to the bracket. BTW - This bracket and set-up was used on Chevy HD trucks with Holley carbs.

As for now, I've found the two, rojo mentioned, for ±$70. I have to ask at an auto part here, to compare the price against a 72 Camaro model. I've got to verify what Mark mentions about the idle unaffected by the a/c. Tomorrow I'm gonna pick up my car from the a/c shop and I'll see if there is any significant variation in RPMs. Maybe is that I'm too picky with my car and I'm anticipating any annoiance, specially with the bumpy idle caused by the camshaft. Thanks all for the shared info.
