The assembly line correct PVC valve used on the 1968 and 1969 Z/28 was the AC CV-746 C. The assembly line correct design used a rolled top and lightly brushed zinc finish. The later service replacements are different and use an upper case pronounced-crimp design and bright(er) zinc finish. The same later design CV-746 C PVC with a purple tint (and often represented as correct orginal), were used beginning in 1970 and as service replacements. I located a correct CV-746 C for my 69Z and thought I would post a few photos for (future) reference.

Purple tint CV-746 C PVC with later design case (I am told the tint is easily removed).

Later service replacement design CV-746 C in bright silver zinc.

Wow Lloyd, where did you find that? I bet that cost a bit. I hear the purple wasn't used on the 69 at all.

Nice pictures. There's been someone trying to sell one on eBay for $475 for a while.....
Chick also has some great comparison photos in his 68 Z28 build thread, showing correct versus later PCV valves side by side.
