I have a 600 holley which I am trying to adjust the accelerator pump arm clearance. I can not get the arm tight at idle. I turned the nut all the way up and down and still can not get tight. Is it best to turn the bottom nut or the top nut. In the past I held the bottom nut while I turned the top nut. What am I doing wrong I seriously need help.

If you are following the procedure, there are a couple other possibilities. First, some cams won't line up well with the arm. In smoe cases, you have to bend the rod that rides on the cam.

A road I once followed is trying to fatten up the shot by installing more agressive cams to compensate for a hesitation problem. I also used hole #2 in a couple of cases. What I found was that I had another issue (vacuum leak and timing problems). I dropped back to an orange cam in hole #1, and everything setup properly.
