Why are the AFR small block race ready heads less money than the competition cylinder heads? Both are assembled and the race head, which is less money flows more.

I think it has to do with the CNC process on the AFR and competition has to use manual labor? But I am sure there is more to meet the eye on this. Maybe the street head is to the max to start with, without getting some additional porting and tweaking and more hours on the flow bench. I would guess that the next step up would be to match perfectly the cam, manifold , head and piston to each application and thats where Tony would come in to play.
