You know what I want to know...many antique pieces, like furniture, watches, etc. are valued as much for their patina as for what they are. Why can't this apply to our cars? Then a rolling rust bucket wouldn't be a basket case, it would be highly prized, and the over-restored cars would be scorned and sent packing.

I am saving what I can, but so much of my car was riddled with rot that it's more of a Dynacorn Darling than trusty GM now. Doesn't matter to me really.

Good deal man! It's been too cold here in Texas to do much of anything. When we hit 20F, the whole state shuts down. I did manage to paint and powdercoat some things this week after work, but nothing major - steering arms, some brackets.

You should have left it alone, Al. That's the "high-strength" wire mesh (carbon fiber?) that's quite common in today's pro repair shops.
