At this point it looks like the only "original" sheet metal parts
that will remain on my car are , passenger door, hood & roof.
I will be reusing some of the interior parts also. Some show a
bit of wear but still function properly.
Robert, there have been many days I felt I should have just
left my car as it was. Rust and all. Hell, it was a driver.

Talked to my supplier today about the bad tail panel. He is currently
out of stock so I'll have to wait a week to get a replacement. I will
just have to work on some other area this weekend. Like that will
be a problem. LOL. Always something to change my plans. I'm starting
to think I should have bought 2 of everything I needed from different
mfg's, just to have a choice and a back up.

I can vouch for that too.... There's always something else you can do on the resto. I love making lists for this reason. It keeps me focused and in check on the right path... Good catch on that tail panel...:yes:

Just a side note... I am on my second tail light panel, and third set of full quarters, and STILL had all kinds of issues with the passenger side as we have all seen in my thread. Just goes to show you that all panels are not equal, and unfortunately,... the grass in not always greener. Hopefully-- you will get a much nicer one next time around in exchange.
The first thing I would do is compare and measure the next one to your original panel before even setting on the car for a test-fit. You are probably one step ahead of me though, and already thinking that I imagine. :yes: I do think you are doing the right thing by having it swapped out in that case-- instead of making it fit with numerous mods. Too much work for a new panel and you drew the line at the right time.... (before getting too deep)

figuring out a couple of areas and removed the rest of the right side
quarter panel. Started fiddling with the right rear wheel house also.
I'm going to splice this side as the left side was such a fiasco.
Seems like a guy spends more time planning than he does doing, but
that's not a bad thing. I'll post a picture once I get the splice done.
I'm planning on butt welding it and then weld it soild. Seems like the
best way to go. I won't have the new quarter panel until this weekend
so I'm going to just tack weld the wheel house splice so I'm sure the
quarter will fit properly.

problem. He said he's never had one returned before but is more than
willing to order one from a different supplier. The 2 I have received are
OER brand. He's offering to order Golden Legion (1 week delivery) or
just about any brand I want to try. I'm sure I can butcher the OER
and make it work but it just doesn't seem like that should be required.

I actually got something accomplished.:hurray: Replaced the ear on the
right side inner wheel house. This was a pretty good challenge for me.

Just a quick thought,
Have you tried your wing window in the new door? This is something I was warned about in my build. Mine did fit ok, but I have been told this has been a problem for some people. The gap is too narrow for the wing window frame to slide in. That is not something you want to find after paint!:noway:

No, I have not tried the window yet. Measurements look good but I will
try it before paint. Thanks for the reminder.

no... but there's still a 10-20% chance the next two days, then the weekend is supposed to clear up and be in the low-mid 70's. Clear and sunny too... Aren't we spoiled here in Florida? lol... We only really get about 2 months of winter at the most...any given year. Gotta love it...
Heck that means 80%-90% chance it won't rain. I say take a chance.

Hi Jason. I'm not real sure what your question is. I am working on
replacing the tail panel. I already have the left side quarter mostly
fit. Not welded in yet. I ordered a new tail panel from BelAir Bob
and waiting for it to arrive. I tried 2 others (OER) and was not happy
with them. In the mean time I've been working on the right side
wheel house and lower inner quarter panel patch. I missed your build
thread some how but I've got it in my subscribed threads now.
Looks like your right side tail panel fit good as did mine but
the left side had some problems, just like mine. Keep up the good work
and I'll be watching. Here's a couple of pics of the lower inner quarter
patch in process. I also need to fab a patch for the inner wheel house.

Just wanted to say your build is looking great so far. Nice to see another Camaro enthusiast from Iowa on here. I grew up / lived there for 25 years ... around the Waterloo area ... been in Texas now for the last 13 years. As far as your tail panel, maybe check and see if AMD makes one ... don't they have some kind of guareente on their fitment? Thought I remember hearing that somewhere. Good luck.
