I want to adjust the steering box on my 69 to remove some play in the steering wheel, and the lock nut is so tight I can't get it loose. Any tricks available to loosen it?

Box is a rebuilt variable ratio 3-3 1/2 turns power steering unit. I installed it in 2010 when I rebuilt the front suspension and steering.

Not yet.:smile2: I was expecting it to come loose before putting an impact wrench to it. Is there any possibility it has left-hand threads?

They are all right hand thread. I'd try a breaker bar on it first. Use a 6 point socket so you don't round the corners off. An impact would probably take it but go easy. The aluminum cap is threaded for the stud, the stud goes into the gear and is captured to it just like on the swivel of a "C" Clamp.
