I am installing a painless kit in my 69 convertible and I ran across a minor problem this weekend.

The connectors that they give you for the dash warning lights, turn signal indicators, etc are completely different from what is in the car. The new connectors dont even stay put in the holder. I tried calling them but since it is Sunday afternoon, they are not open. Has anyone had a similar experience? I went to GM to see if they had any connectors and I had to look through a book of line drawings. Nothing really looked close. At least not enough to special order a whole box.

I hear you need to snip off your lod ones and add them to the new wires. The wiring kits you get form the parts houses are so much more expensive because they come with all the factory type plugs. Thats just the impression I got from reading past posts.

Had the same problem when I installed the wiring harness 2 1/2 years ago, I'm glad to see they fixed the problem. Everything else went well. When I talked to the tech line they told me to connect these wires to the computer first. Maybe other '69 Camaros had computers but mine didn't, lost confidence in tech person. I went to the local Chevy dealer and they had a big box of connectors from old vehicles and said "pick out what ya need" and didn't charge me anything. If you use the old connectors DON'T try to take the wire out of the connector but cut the wire, leaving adequate length, and connect wire to wire. I used the "no crimp" connectors from Summit and really like them. They will never come apart. I also liked Eastwood's liquid electric insulation on many parts of the installation. so go to other GM dealers with the connector in hand and try to get from them. Good luck Ray

I went to a rather large chevy dealer last Saturday. Didnt have the connectors but let me look through a GM catalog for electrical connectors. Couldnt exactly match up what I was looking for, so the guy gave me a couple of things to try but they didnt work. I have decided after trying several electrical suppliers, that I will just reuse the existing connectors for the turn indicators, and high beam indicator. I am going with some aftermarket gauges.
