If you can do a tranny swap, you can do the conversion. It really isn't that much more work.

You need to hook up the whole clutch pedal and linkage too, and often will require a new console if your auto tranny was a floor-shift. Worse yet, you will be facing a lot of work if your auto's shifter is originally on the steering column.

So it can be done, but sometimes it is just easier to get one with a manual, depending on what car it is, like year, model etc.
