Does anyone have the ability to take a picture of the correct set up for the linkage that goes from the back up light switch on a Saginaw 4 speed on a 67. Mine had a peice of wire hose clamped to the reverse linkage rod on the Hurst shifter.
Thanks for any help.

There is a small hole in the reverse arm on the transmission, a small rod, about an eighth inch thick runs from the arm to the reverse switch which is mounted on the lower bolts of the side cover. The wire plugs into the firewall rubber plug just below the windshield wiper motor.

My reverse lever does not have a hole in it.
I wondered if that is where it is supposed to go but I just installed alll new linkage arms and rods. I got the arms from Hurst and the told me they were correct. I guess I will have to drill the hole. I saw Rick's has a arm and heat shield, does anyone know what the heat shield is for?
Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure what your talking about on the side cover. I have the bracket that the switch mounts to on lower two bolts on the side cover. What I dont know is how the switch is activated by the lever.

Most had a switch in the side cover activated by the shaft that moves the reverse gear inside the trans. If yours doesn't then use the external lever.

I just did this on my Muncie with help from people here. Just go to your local speed shop and get the backup light switch from Hurst it hooks to the shifter stop bolt on the back of the shifter. The switch hits the back of the linkage on shifter itself. It's real easy to install and works great. I paid $27 for it. If you need a pic of what it looks like mounted i'll take one of it.

That sounds better, I had nothing but trouble making my stock switch work.
