I have decided to cut bait on the original pair of 69 fenders I have. I just found a new rust area above the body line that must have rotted from a leaking antena. I had already patched both fenders and I was striping for filler application. I realized this pair had been worked too many times and the metal is getting too thin.
Anyways.
I have been searching to find out who makes the best repop fenders. I see a number of posts that are 6 to 8 years old but nothing recently. I have had good luck with repop quarters, doors and such with some minor welding or tweeking needed.

What brand or supplier did you have the best luck with? Goodmark, Golden legion or ?? I know these will not just fall onto the car but I want to keep my pain to $$$ ratio in a fair balance. I do not have the budget for NOS.

FYI this is going on a 69 Convertible with standard grill that has all repop sheetmetal.

Thanks for your input.

Maybe AMD has the thickest and sharper lines than others for sure. All new metal needs some attention! I bought two new fenders, and had to work on both of them.
I was in the mindset of just buying new and bolting on WRONG! when it comes to
a first gen you have to work on everything, still its awesome to work on our cars right?

If you can, try and find a pair of originals. Nothing fits like originals.

I did some searching for AMD fenders but I am a little leary of the suppliers. Some of the sheetmetal guys will state that they sell the AMD fenders and list that as the brand but when I e-mail or call to verify they give a different prices, $100 more each, for AMD or they have no clue when i ask about if these are the re-tooled fenders. I have been told that Tri-Plus is another name for AMD. Is this true?
The last set of originals that I purchased ended up having long rust holes hidden up high. They fit awsome with just shimming and a little bending to make fit. I have seen originals that need the lower patch behind the wheel for around $100.00, but the hidden pitting up high or previous repairs scares me. I can weld in a lower patch or work out a dent with no problem. I just seems everything has been worked atleast 3 times and they are thin on top of pitted.
On lesser brands of repop fenders what kind of repair work was needed? Re-arching a bend, moving an inner mount, skim coat needed or ??? What brand were they and where did you get them? I see prices from $190 to $360 around here for repops. I would like to avoid adding metal to an edge like I had to on my passenger door. Moving a brace, egging out a mount or tweeking to shape I can handle.
Im my situation money is an object but I do not want to do this again in 5 years.

Thanks

Try giving a call to BelairBobs, he is a site sponser.

I just found out Goodmark is out of business and one of the guys from there started AMD. I would use AMD from what I have heard but I have not seen or fitted any of there sheetmetal.

Use the recommendation above to contact Bob.
He, and a few others on the site, will give you a fair deal and the straight scoop on different sheetmetal suppliers.

Tri-Plus is a manufacturing Co. out of Taiwan (not China as often stated).
They sell under their own name in some markets (lots of classic truck), as well as, have and do supply various panels to many resellers under different names.
AMD does source some, but not all, of their panels from them.

Here is their address in Taipei;
TRIPLUS CO., LTD.
5F, NO.79, SEC 1, HSIN HAI RD.
TAIPEI, TAIWAN R.O

 Often all of those - just as GM did with the 'original' OEM panels as the vehicles came down the line ;)
You can't imagine the size of the hammers, prybars and blocks of wood you'd see laying around the GMAD (LOS/VN) body assembly area
I'm sure the 'Fisher' guys at Norwood were just as good at tweaking stuff into place ...

In all the years I've been using both OEM/NOS and 'repopped' body panels, I've seldom had a part fall onto the location with no issues.
They all require some patience and skill to get the fit/finish that looks best and ... you will accept - some folks (like me) are just "fussier" that others ...

You're working with a 30+ year old 'Semi-Unitized' body that's had lots of forces and movement effect it over the years - be ready to "tweak" things a bit to get the best fit ... :beers:

I have installed a pair of fenders on my 68 Camaro that’s nearly finished. The original fenders were too far gone to, “retool”, so I opted new, purchasing from AMD. Theses came shipped by common carrier. They were packed securely on a pallet. After pulling them out and throughly inspecting them, it was an easy decision to use them. Both required work, though I could not be mor pleased with the fit and final results.
