OK guys who can settle a long dispute. When were clear window crank handle knobs used vs. black ones???? Color of interior? Supply? Deluxe/standard????

I don't recall any Chevy's getting black handles from the factory. I believe they were all clear, at least until they yellowed after a 8-10 years...then many replacement black handled parts were used. Someone set me straight if this is inaccurate.

I have three 68's with standard interiors, and they all have black knobs.

1967 used small interior color knobs. 1968 used larger interior colored knobs(my 68 has tan/gold knobs). 1969 and later used clear knobs. The only black knobs used were in black interiors in 67-68. Deluxe or standard interior did not matter. This goes for all GM cars.
The plastic knobs were part of the safety package introduced in 1967 along with padded interior mirrors, hazard lights, emergency brake light etc.
