I personally would use one on anything. I have even used plated when boring old Briggs and Stratton engines for race karts. Me, I say yes.

I dont even know if they make a torque plate for that engine. I would not bore that with a boring bar i would use a C K 10 SUNNEN or similar and using that i would not think that you would need a torque plate. I have done 400 sbc with and without torque plates. I have used both a VAN NORMAN PERFECT -O boring bar and a C K -10 and no propblem either way.Which ever way you choose good luck . Alex
