All four go out when you press on the brake? If so, it can't be a ground as all the lights ground seperately. Must be a poor positive connection that can not drive the additional load of iluminating the brake filaments. I had a similar problem on another car and it turned out to be corrosion on the fuse clip in the fuse panel. I hit them with a nail file and the problem was solved.
