For those of you who run bronze distributor gears in your street driven Hotrods, I have a few questions for you:

1. Are you using the normal splash oiling for the bronze gear/cam gear, or are you using the pressure fed gear idea from having a small slot in the bottom of the distributor housing?

2. How many miles do you typically get out of a bronze gear?

3. What is your particular method for determining when it is time to change the gear?

Thanks for your input.

I've been running a billet roller cam and bronze gears for the last 7 years. In response to your questions:

1. Standard oiling with an MSD pro billet distributor

2. 3,000 miles, could have gone longer

3. At first I pulled the distributor after a few weeks just to check it. Then I pulled it every few months and compared it to a new gear. After the first year I replaced it. From then on I would just replace it once a year without even checking it. Just became routine maintenance.
