After resisting the urge for more than 10 years I am very near by passing my heater. I just need to get rid of the heater hoses. I will not be removing the blower nor installing a block off plate though. I have a couple of questions for guys who have done it.

1) Did you regret is later?
2) Will leaving the heater core in there without antifreeze in it cause it to rot?

Car is a 69 with a small block. I use the heat maybe one time a year if that. It is nice when I need it, but no more than I need it I am considering by-passing it.

Your heater core will not rot any faster without antifreeze. In fact if I would bypass the heater core I would be sure to blow out any antifreeze that was left in it. I am surprised if the core is original that it hasn't started to leak already.

What is your point Steps? All I know is I had to replace both my heater core and my radiator because the brass rotted and they leaked. If he leaves anti-freeze in there it will leak out sooner or later and it leaks inside the car.

Greg: are you going for a stock look. The heater hoses will be missed is your are. There is a fix though. When I purchased my 30,000 mile original Z, it was a trailer queen. I wanted to drive it. One of the first things I had to do was take out the "plugs" in the heater hoses. Unknown to me a trick used by the Car show set was to plug the heater hoses with "frost plugs", or at least that is what they looked like.
They were in the heater hoses and stopped the flow of water through them into the core.
The look was totally stock but no water left the engine.
This might be something to look into.

I was more looking for increased room over there. I put an MSD box on the inner fender and the hoses were laying on it. I ended up just shortening them for now to get them off the box. If it continues to be a PITA then I will pull the hoses off.
