Guys I went out today and brought 5 gallons of Cam 2 110 octane fuel...I was going to run on my 355 blower equipped engine..The blower is now under driven...Is it ok to run 110 octane....I have always been under the assumption that a higher octane rating could not hurt anything was a waste of money but would not hurt anything(except for the new comp cars)...But was told today by the guy at the local parts store(Don't say it I know...
..Better safe than sorry),,That to much octane would burn out my valves..Is this correct.....should I or shouldn't I run the 110 octane gas...Can it hurt anything...Thanks

You won't hurt anything other than a catalytic converter/O2 but I don't think you have those. The worst that will happen is if you don't need the additional octane you may lose a few horsepower due to the slower burn rate. It's not a bad idea to mix some higher octane gas in if you're heading to the track. It will also allow more timing which if it's retarded for the pump gas could make a noticeable difference.

No cat No oxy sensor...But I do have one of those rich/lean meters..The sensor looks somwhat like a oxygen sensor...The rich/lean setup has a sensor that goes into the header and registered the fuel coming out the exhaust...Do you think the 110 octane fuel will damage the rich/lean sensor...Thanks again

CamII is a leaded fuel. The lean/rich sensor is basically an O2 sensor and it WILL be affected by the lead in the fuel. There are unleaded racing fuels available....mostly at the Circle Tracks.

+ remember "back in the day" you could get regular (leaded gas) at Sunoco with 102 octane right out the pump, cheap unleaded fuels lowered the octane ALOT, gas used to have some balls, now its like coors light. ...pisswater

here in md, I go out to the airport and get gas, you can get 104 and 112 octane (not cam2 but regular gas) for 2.59 and 3.xx a gallon.
