For my rebuilt 305. I have two choices. I found a used hyd Roller out of an 87 caprice thats in good shape it is stock. Or I have a new hyd flat tappet "RV" cam,
specs:
.INT EXH
valve lift .420 .443
cam lift .280 .295
dur.(sae) 278 288
centerline 107 117
spread 112
[email protected] 204 214

Which would be better?

The factory roller grinds for non-performance 305's are very tiny...specs are pretty much identical to the non-roller non-performance 305's. Stick with the RV grind...it will be much easier too if you don't already have a roller block.

The cams are a little different between the factory roller and non-roller blocks, as are the timing sets. I am not sure if it is even possible to swap between the 2 types of blocks.
