I'm considering buying a 1969 RS. The car is originally a 6 cyl, 2 speed powerglide ( a base camaro) with the RS package. ( Hideaway Headlights, ect...) The car has good original floors, and trunk area. The owner has bought new quarters but they are not installed. The car needs rockers, and inner fenders. The interior is a original bench, and the owner has a set of bucket seats and center council for it. The owner has put a 307 under the hood, retaining the 2 sp powerglide. The car is currently running and has good brakes ect.. however it needs alot of work and I don't know how rare this car is? and it's value as it sits?

What is he asking for it?

What do you want out of it, clean street machine? year round daily driver? (it's probably seen it's share of Canadian winters)

Can you do most of the rebuilding?

I plan to make a good driver out of the car. I can do the majority of the work on the car with exception to the body/ paint. the car is suprisingly solid underneath.... The odometer shows 67,000 m. This guy is the second owner. I plan on offering $1500 to $2000 for it this spring. I think a plain jane RS like that must be fairly unique.

Buy it cheap. If you can see that much rust, imagine what you can't see. Pull the rear seat cushion out and examine the floor under it. This is where the front rear spring perch is welded to the structure; heavy rust here is big trouble.

And no matter what you do to the car it will always have the 6 cylinder VIN.

You did say bench front seat, didn't you???

If so, you might want to hang on to it because most people opted for the buckets. I'm not saying that it's worth much, just not very common.

I wanted a bench in my '67 but couldn't get it because I wanted gauges, and they only came with the console and buckets. I liked the idea of my then girlfriend-now wife setting next to me. pdq67

The car you speak of sounds great !!! it is a good thing I'm broke or I would have a feild full of um , if you can get that car for less than $4000 it will be like money in the bank , the RS cars bring more money even in not that good of shape I have a 67 RS , I hope you get it and fix it up , where did you say it was sitting ????

I have been looking for a site that will show the production run for 1969 camaro's however I can't find one.....?? anybody know where I can get that info.? I would really like to know how rare a plain camaro with the RS package is. If the car is fairly rare I might restore it with the six cyl, bench seat ect...just to be unique..but the hot rodder in me says drop a big block in it!!!

Buy the car right and stuff a big block in it. Thats my next project. I have a original car,now it's time for a R/S big block with modern suspension. A good rule when buying any old car is buy the best car your budget will allow. Good Luck! Cary

Bench seats were not a regular option in 1969 so this car must be extremely early in production and have a leftover 68 bench seat. Guess the car just got a little rarer if you can prove it had the seat originally. Since its a Canadian car you should be able to get the build data from GM of canada by providing them the VIN number.

you can contact gm canada 905-644-3387 or 644-4060 ask for george zapora. they charge aprox $50.00 for the prod'n sheet
