This is ref. an earlier post on fuel smell...I tryed to do a wet adjustment to my floats, but when I loosen the lock screw on top of the bowl, fuel starts shooting out around the edges. Is there a trick to doing this with the engine running? My carb's a Holley model 4160 street legal type.

There should be a thin gasket between the nut and the float body and the nut and lock screw on top. You only need to loosen the lock screw a hair to be able to move the nut (clockwise to lower float and counterclockwise to raise), fuel should not leak out to bad when done this way.
The only other way is the old trial and error way of adjusting the float a little low to begin then starting engine and removing the site screw to see how the level is. Go up with the float adjustment (engine off) a little at a time, starting engine and checking until you get the right setting.
