I have a problem w/ my 2001 Z28. One of the Cat converters “briskets” has let loose and is really rattling around in the housing. I had both cats replaced some 5 years ago but the muffler shop has gone out of business. They are “Magna Flow” high flow cats and at the time they cost me $625 installed. I was just going to drill some holes and use some stainless steel sheet metal screws and just lock it down to the housing and seal it w/ some exhaust tube sealer / goop. Yes I’m being cheep as I really don’t have the money to get another cat installed…. Any thoughts???

I understand it's a ceramic honeycomb brick inside the CAT and it would just break into pieces if i put a couple of screws into it. I have sent an e-mail to the Magna Flow people... We will see what they have to say about the unit as the web page says it's a life time warranty.
