I've got a 95 camaro with worn struts (I hear a banging noise over any bump). The Haynes manual says I have to remove the lower control arm to get them out. Is this true? Seems like alot of work for just struts. Is there another way to get the old ones out without having to remove the lower arms? Any help would be appreciated:yes:

No, you do not have to remove the lower control arm. Keep track of the upper plate/ strut orientation once the spring is compressed. If I remember right the ball joints do not have to be busted loose either, but it makes it easier.
The upper bushings are common to be worn, and will make a clunk noise when hitting a bump. They get loose in the mount, and will slide front to back.
