Ran over a plastic bag yesterday and it stuck to my headers. What a mess. They are ceramic coated. As you can imagine, taking them out is NOT an option! :surprise:

Some fine steel wool and brake clean or lacquer thinner might help

Try a solvent first as mentioned, then you can follow up with rubbing and polishing compound. Oven cleaner sprayed on with a short run cycle to heat the headers up and activate the oven cleaner might work, but I've never tried it on ceramic coated headers so do so at your own risk.

mothers polish and a scotch brite pad, i use the green pads

That sucks. I would definitely use cleaner first. Wouldn't want to scratch them up.

Damn, that happened with my 85 except it hit the transverse muffler. Stunk like hell. Took a long time to burn off.
