I just installed these new rubber seals in my console. They look good but I think the rubber is very "grippy". When I move the shifter down to 2nd or 1st gear, then move back up, the rubber gets folded in front of the shifter and keeps it from moving farther. Its like the rubber is too soft and not slippery enough.

Anyone have the same issue, or know what to do besides putting the old ones back in?

Thanks

My guess is you are talking about the soft plastic piece under the sliding cover around the shifter. I had a repro that lasted about a month and ripped. It was hitting the studs under the console as it was too big. It also didn't hold up under the slider to fill the hole which is very large.
I fabricated a new sliding plate out of poly-carbonate plastic and made the hole just large enough for the shifter to slide between reverse and fourth. I cut down another new closure piece to avoid hitting the studs. It only lasted about 6 months, so I ran without it. I also tried a piece of rubber inner tube for the closure, but didn't work well either.
