The air cleaner woes post interests me, I have hoses coming from both valve covers going to my air cleaner to suck the crankcase of pressure, but I still have positive pressure, my edlebrock fuel pump keeps blowing oil out of its breather hole located at the top of the left side of the pump, had it apart twice, the seal is in place and in good shape, so I assume crankcase pressure is too high, should I put a breather on one valve cover? Seems like there is some blowby, but doesn't seem excessive,it is a overbored 396. Any ideas?

Having a hose from each valve cover going to the air cleaner is essentially the same as just having a breather cap on each valve cover. If you were to replace one of those hoses with a pcv valve connected to a vacuum port on the carb, the blow-by gasses would be sucked through the pcv valve and passed through the carb to be burned again. I don't think there is enough vacuum in the air cleaner to accomplish this. Once you had a pcv valve properly installed in one valve cover, then you should be able to go over to the other valve cover and remove the hose and feel suction at that point. If this doesn't help with your pressure problems, at least those blow-by contaminants would be cleaned out.
Are you sure one of those hoses going to the air cleaner isn't going to the carb instead? I have never seen two hoses going to the air cleaner.

Thanks for the reply, the setup I have on the engine is of my own brain fart. I have a T fitting and both hoses go into it and then to the aircleaner, its a edlbrock aircleaner. That makes sense that the carb makes more vaccum, but unfortunately, I'm using that big vaccum fitting at the back of the carb for my power brake booster, I'll check for another one of adaquate size, thanks again!!!

Yes,I do have a manifold vaccum source, I have it plugged now, so maybe I will switch it to the brake booster, I'm still not sure if it will help my positive pressured crankcase, would I having a hi volume (70 psi at cruise) oil pump create this condition? Thanks for the reply!!
