I have assembled a 327 engine out of my 68RS and installed a 350 SCAT crank. I had to do a little grinding on the block to get enough clearance around the rear counterweight and each cylinder for the rods. When I installed the stock oil pan, the crank is hitting the pan. What oil pan should I use as a result of this?

There's no reason a stock ,un dented pan wont clear a 400 crank,not to mention a 350. I'd say the pan is dented or smashed. Also I've never had to clearence a pan rail for clearence,except on a 383.(400 stroke,350 block)I dont think a 327 block is any different than a 350,they were interchangable in 67,68.

I just put a 350 crank in my 68 327. It dropped right in as expected. Nothing had to be clearanced. 68-69 327 used the same block as the 350. The only difference is the crank and pistons.

I've heard of the scat cranks hitting the block etc.
I think I've read it here on the forum. You might search the Performance archives.
If you have stock rods, you shouldn't have any clearance problems with them. If they are aftermarket rods, it's common.

Check the oil pan baffle, thats the flat metal piece that the pickup sticks through, Had a 283 pan installed on a 350 once and had to make a little modification with my pressure wrench (hammer for you [email protected]#d guys)

Thanks for the feedback. I did some further checking and it is the rear counterweight hitting the pan. I am going to try a GM pan vs. the aftermarket that was under there. Worse case I will have to perform the hammer mod on the pan.
