I finally got my 831 deep groove alternator pulley and it's too tight on the shaft. I don't want to beat it on because I'll never get it off. My alternator is an 1100946 55A dated 3C9. Is there a secret to getting them on? Should it not go on and off fairly easy? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I know you guys can help me out.

Is the pulley powerdercoated or even painted? If so, take a dremel and clean off the inside of the pulley. The layer of paint or powerdercoat is probably a little too much.

Thanks guys! A little emory cloth rolled around on a bolt worked like a charm. It now slides on and off just like it should. I was worried that the diameter of my alternator shaft wasn't the same. Thanks
