I'm wondering if standard 1968 tail lamps can be used on an RS if the lenses ae changed? I've reposted this as I was getting invalid feedback which was my fault because I didnt supply enough information.

I assume the RS just has another red lense on the inside. Can someone confirm this?

RS is a single long lens
Std is a seperate red and clear lens.
Housings are the same and lens will interchange.

RS has single red lense with back up lights below bumper on the valance.

Can the "chrome"surrounds be reconditioned or is it easier to purchase new reproductions?

I would think it would likely be easier (and cheaper) to purchase new ones, as the originals are usually quite badly pitted. Personally I like the "Classic Headquarters" brand, they come with threaded studs and the required nuts to hold the bezels to the tailpan, and the chrome piece down the middle is a bit wider and looks better to me, likely closer to original. I somehow ended up with one CH brand bezel and one other unidentified bezel, the CH appears to be slightly higher quality, although either would be fine if they matched.
