Hi all,

While in between the body shop and installing Vintage Air set up, I have decided to go back to a mechanical fan with clutch. When I bought the car, it came with a Be Cool Rad and electric fan set up.

Prior to purchasing anything now, I am wondering what the minimum distance is from the back of the fan clutch mount (face of pulley) to the radiator core. I have a BB and March pulley set and running a long water pimp. I am told by the folks at March that their brackets don’t change the original dimensions/geometry. The current space seems very tight.

Thank you,

Steve

It is a BB. After some research and through reading other threads I have found that the Hayden 2747 fan clutch (which seems to be the unit of choice) is 3.66” long which is just over 3 5/8”. I measured the space that I have to work with and it is 3 3/4”. That only leaves 1/8” between the rad core and the spinning clutch. Realizing that there is torque reaction of the engine during acceleration of the car, I wonder how close is too close.
