My car came with 2" blocks on the rear like it has a damn lift kit or something. Is there any good reason other than tire fitment. My car has more wheel gap than my old ford ranger.

Blocks in our car's rear suspension only serve to lower them, if you remove them, then your car will be 2" higher.

sounds like you have too much spring or too new of a spring. need to check what your application is , 4 or 5 leaf and correct. I got into this putting new 5 leaf springs on a 68 SS car, look like a grass hopper. Pulled out one long leaf and was still too high.. Pulled one of the third leafs out and replaced it with a used one out of old set. Bingo, ended up with 4 leaves on SS 396 car.

Is your axle above or below the springs ? As stated before, the axle shoud be above the springs, so a block would lower the rear ride height.
