This is stated in the terms of use from Camaros.net

You may not:
*Use the Web Site to post or transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, libelous, flaming, hateful, offensive (whether in relation to sex, race, religion or otherwise), defamatory, obscene, vulgar, harassing, pornographic, profane or indecent information of any kind, including without limitation any transmissions constituting or encouraging conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any local, state, provincial, national or international law.

I'm not a paying member and haven't seen the strife first hand that has been witnessed by others, but isn't it illegal from a criminal standpoint and the code of conduct here within that has been constituted by the member(s)?
C'mon having a difference of opinion is one thing but uttering a threat to someone is allowed because they disagree with your viewpoint whether its car related or otherwise?
Allowing this behavor is condoning it, you Moderators need to clean it up, rid this site of unnecessary postings that have nothing to do with 1st gens.

I think at the end of the day Trolls will always bleed into sections of a forum where they don't belong. Twenty years ago every fool in the world didn't have access to platforms to bleat nonsense in whatever shape and size or content they chose. To me, a "for profit" enterprise probably should allow for greater input from paying members and remember the spirit of what the forum is about.

Regardless, I click on new and rarely see anything I don't want to because I have either blocked members content or threads altogether so my intake is pretty clean of that nonsense.

It's not that difficult to ignore or block another members posts, but putting politics aside... we all pretty much have an interest in our cars, in other people's cars, and the bazillion experiences associated with these cars. I'd hate to block someone who had a lot to share or was even new to all this and wanted/needed help... because that individual had political opinions counter to mine.

This political partisan sickness is screwing up the country, and it's kinda sad. We get more than enough via FB, TV, Radio, Newspapers an other media platforms, so it's really a bummer when it drifts into hobbies like ours. And while you can try to ignore it, it's like the gory accident you slowly crawl by on the highway... you turn your head to see what happened. If there was no accident you wouldn't be distracted and if there was no OT thread you wouldn't take a sneak peek to see what was being said. And you couldn't be tempted to "correct" some post that you think is false.

Dons poll is now up to 80% in favor of just cutting out the cancer. There has to be a way to respect the membership's opinion.

I liked the old format where you didn't have to see the political posts if you didn't want to. Just because I don't care for it doesn't mean it should be removed. That's how I see it. If it can't be hidden, don't click on it.

Is it...getting rid of the OT Forum because OTHER members don't like it, or getting RID of, or fixing the leakage that seems to be filtering it's way to the other FORUMS? Seems to me from where I sit, someone, owners, have dropped the ball on this new site, and haven't figured out yet how to keep OT apart and separate from the other forums on the site.

When I click on new I see all the OT threads that have had activity since my last visit. I don’t choose to see them. In fact I spent a fair amount of time trying to adjust my settings so that I don’t see them.

Yes I don’t need to click on them but I feel the hatred spewed there poisons this entire forum. Especially when a member threatens to shoot another member and is not banned. I’ve also seen a member challenge other members to a fist fight. WTF....

Don
Well I personally won't tolerate someone saying something to me through this forum they would not say to my face-man up or don't say it period.
I am still trying to grasp why it bothers you when you DON"T HAVE to click! If a new post pops in Pro Street for example unless I am really bored, I won't click.
If you know you don't care for it why do you do it?

I sure would like to see the post you are speaking of, somehow I missed it.

Anyway Don you are one of the solid contributors here for tech and value your opinions but just don't agree here. Maybe if I saw the post lol...........

Looks like mods deleted them, but I do seem to remember some thing about an invitation for face time in Boise?

From the OT rules:

Although this forum has no Moderator, it is not a dumpster for anything goes, please show the respect that you expect back.

This section is available for topics not generally accepted in our main forums that you wouldn't feel comfortable with if family or co-workers were looking over your shoulder. We only have 3 words in our **** list, so don't go overboard just because you can.

It is not viewable by the general public and can only be accessed by agreeing to join this group.

If you think what you are posting is going to create problems, don't post it.

I think it’s obvious that folks are posting political content that they know will create problems with other members. Why isn’t this being enforced? The respect requirement is also obviously being ignored.

OT is now visible to the general public and as such the anything goes policy needs to be revisited. This forum should be moderated the same as all other general public forums....

I'm not convinced that off topic is visible to all. I looked at a political post yesterday and there was an option at the upper right to turn off notifications. I felt that turning that off would eliminate all the politics and the "Rear End" NSFW thread along with it. I guess I should try it as I rarely frequent either one.

I’ve turned off notifications for all off topic. Makes no difference, they are still there when I click new....

I also opened the forum on my phone without logging in. All the off topic was there....

I'm not a paying member and I don't see OT forum. When the site first changed I did see it but somewhere along the line I was able to turn it off. I think it was a choice I had but maybe the site updated it. I really don't recall.
You are living a charmed life Al! First you win ROTM and now you don’t see OT threads 🤣

Certainly there may be a reason to discourage many discussions of most politics and political ideologies, however, there are a lot of "politics" that influence and affect classic cars as a hobby; e,g, mileage tracking devices, gasoline formulas, gas availability, gas price and it's demise; licensing and registration costs, clunker laws, emissions/carbon taxes on pre-cat vehicles. There are a lot of politicians who would love to legislate our hobby out of existence.

Good point. I regularly get emails from SEMA regarding current legislation. Next is becoming moonshiners distilling quality gasoline in the woods at midnight. There is a aftermarket electric kit for Camaros although very pricey.

I personally don't mind the OT politics I can chose not to open a thread based on the title. What I don't appreciate is politics being brought into just about every none Camaro subject, like the weather, COVID, Mary Anne dying. Heck it even happened in this thread.

If you ignore someone, you don't have to see them, but are they still able to see your posts and respond to them? If it doesn't work like "blocking" what good is it?

From what I have seen if you block someone the message will come up that they are blocked. You can then view it if you want. Then if you revisit the post it will be gone.

exactly why I quit watching / listening to news regularly and going to FB more than maybe once a week for a quick scan. I realized every time I did I got pissed off, without it, I'm happier and chilled out.
