Has anyone had experience with Thorley tri-y
plated headers ?
I am thinking of buying a set for my 69/350. Spec wise they look to be a little heavier than competitors with a 3/8 flange and 14 ga. tubes vs. 5/16 flange and 16 or 18ga. tubes.

Thanks Everyone,

I have a buddy that just put on a set and they are really nice, I wish I had not been so cheap and bought the Hookers as they don't even compair in quality or fit...speedy

I have a set on my camaro. They fit great! It is very easy to get to the spark plugs and all the header bolts. They clear everything no problem and they tuck up nice and tight- never have hit them on the ground.

Tim- I have had a set on one of my cars for going on 14 years now and I will say that they are great product. They fit great, you can change the plugs and they are very sturdy.

I have worked with the guys at the shop before and have even had them pull a set of headers off the line before they went into plating so that I could have them 'ceramic' coated without any questions. Their customer service and ability to work with their customers is second to none.

I think the best thing is how they fit into the chassis. I use the Global West 'sub-frame' bushings (part# 801) that lower the sheet metal a 1/2" onto the sub-frame and the collectors are right on the floor board. These headers will offer you the most ground clearence of all manufacturers (long tube type).

Good luck~

Tom, I have the standard height body mounts and clearance with the tranny crossmember is tight with a 3" pipe. Are these 'too tight' to the floors for a 3" pipe?

Thank You for the replies everyone.

time to get on the phone, if I can't work on the car because of the cold, at least I can fill the garage with parts.

Thanks Again

A 3" pipe? If I remember correctly, arent the collectors 2.5"?

Oh yeah, I think you are running the 'Dr.Gas' set up right? I believe that with the 'standard' height bushings you shouldnt have any problems because it will give you more room to the floor pan but it will be close to the trans cross member.

I am using solid engine mounts and my exhaust system was fabbed really close to the cross member and I dont have any issues.....

I think you'll be OK.

Are the Thorley's the ones that allow the use of the rod to work the backup light's?
