I replaced my old cable with a new plastic coated cable, If I run above or below the pipes they lay on the the pipes and melt, I tried to bend the rod, it snaped. anyone have this problem ? and how did you fix it. Any pictures will help out thanks

It's a 67 and the rod is the ebrake rod that goes from the frame to the cable

I Believe most of us have similar problems in this area, from what i have seen on these forums. I was able to fix this issue with adding an additional spring that i attached to the drivers side sub frame and to the cable , just to the right of the rod you broke. It adds sufficient tension and pulls the cable away and down from the pipes and mufflers. It's been three years without an issue.:)
