Hello I just put a new engine in and have to start and perform the break in procedure. I have never had an electric choke before and want to know opinions. Leave it disconnected or connect it. I noticed if I open the butterfly manually then step on the throttle pedal, they slam close. If I didnt connect it how would I prevent this from happening. Also would leaving the choke disconnected hurt or effect the operation of the carb at all? Disconnect or connect all pros and cons are welcome. Thanks in advance

It sounds like it is working correctly. There are adjustments you can make. I would hook it up to 12V from the fusebox at a terminal that has 12V only with the key on. The 12V will heat up the internal spring inside the choke and it will expand causing the choke to open and the idle to come down to normal.
