Hey all.

Chevy 383 with Holley 750. This is a fairly recent issue, but when it warms up it starts to hesitate a little. Not making it undriveable by any means, but it's noticeable. Just replaced the spark plugs about a month ago and it was running great. You think that has anything to do with it?

Is the Holley 750 out of a box? I had a handful of 383 or Z/28 302 and always use a Holley AED is a must...

A stock out of the box Holley will not work, this is my experience.

Here is a video for my old 68, had a brand new 680 Dominator and car puked when accelerating and replaced with the Holley AED..

It's not necessarily out of a box. I've been running it for 2 years without any issues. This is a recent problem, I'm thinking based on the plugs I'm using. Is hesitation when warm related to plug temperature?

If it was fine and you only swapped plugs...I would pull each one, check gap, and be sure the plug wire is snapped on as well as in the correct firing order.
I would also change the cap and rotor on the distributor. (how old are they?)

Could even be something as simple as bad gas ?

Can you post a video of the issue to maybe help ?

start with basics: check timing, make sure plugs and plug wires are tight, pull cap and rotor and hit it with electronic contact cleaner.

Might just be a loose plug.

If it ran fine before you changed plugs why did you change them?

Did you replace them with the same plugs as the ones you took out?

Have you put the old ones back in to see if that solves the problem?

Just saying if all you did was change plugs then IMO the plug have to be the issue.

Maybe a plug wire crossed?

I would not start fooling with other stuff until the new plugs are ruled out as the culprit.

The easiest solution here is to scrap everything and drop an LS into it, right? :p

The ones that were in there originally, I gapped them incorrectly. It ran great after the swap, but no I didn't replace them with the same ones. I should go back and check the wires like you're saying.

If the original plugs were running great what was the reason for not using the same when you replaced them.

Basically what I'm saying is if was good and you made a change and now it's bad go back and undo what you did.

You're right. That makes the most sense, but I trashed those plugs. The tips were ruined anyway. Also, I don't have the best measure of when something is running right. I'm learning as I go, but I could feel the difference in a good way when I changed them. I'll get some different ones and check the wires.

I just read something that said if you have the wrong plugs you'll have misfires. Sounds about right. Thanks for the help!
