This is not for my Camaro, this is for a 95 Mitsubishi Mirage

Today I was pulling out from a local parking lot when I saw this huge 18 wheeler coming towards me. I floored my car to avoid being hit and temporrarily red-lined the engine (less than three seconds). Now the car is making this faint tapping sound that seems to increase when I accelerate.

Anyone know what I should look at to repair this? Any advise will be greatly appreciated!

Someone will have better advice, but in the past these have all happened to me. I don't know anything about a mirage so this may not apply.
I would check:
Is the timing chain ticking against the timing cover.
If it doesn't have a chain, and has a belt and tensioner, the tensioner could have lost spring or hydraulic pressure and be letting the timing belt tick against the cover.
More likely but less wanted would be if a stud pulled out a little and is allowing your rocker arm to tap against the pushrod.
The rocker arm nut could be loose causing the rocker arm to tap.
The lifter could be flat, also causing the rocker arm to tap.

**Is what I would do is take a stethescope or if you don't have one, use a screw driver with the plastic handle up to your ear and the screwdriver on your engine. Move it around the engine to find where the tick is coming from and that would give you/us more idea of what we are dealing with.
