My 67 Camaro has engine mount towers that are approx 1.75in from the x-member to the mount bolt center. Are these the correct towers for a B.B.C ??. If my B.B.C balancer is 1.75in wide & 8in dia, is this enough info to detertmine if its a 454 or a 427. THANKS,Mike.

Mike- B.B.C balancer for a 454 should have
some type of counter weights attached on the inside and a 427 balancer should be uniform
on the inside. The 454 is externally balanced
and will have counter weights on both the flywheel and harmonic balancer. The 427 is
internally balanced which will had either
metal added or removed from the crank to acheive balance of the rotating assembly.

on the frame mounts, on big blocks, the one side is higher then the other. i'm thinking it's the passenger side, so don't quote me on that. look to see if you can find any part numbers. but now that i think about it, i know the one is higher on 69 camaro's, but for a 67, that i'm not sure of.
good luck,
bruce

The drivers side frame mount is higher to accomodate the steering gear. Bob is correct on the balancer difference. Unfortunately you'll probably have to remove the balancer to check this.
