I'm in the midst of installing a mechanical oil pressure guage on my '69 w/327.

I need confirmation on the exact location for mounting the sending unit. I'm pretty sure it's at the rear of the motor, beside the distributor. Can anyone confirm this???

Thanks!

Either on the drivers side of the distributor or down by the oil filter. If your using a big can type of sending unit and there is not much room up top you might find more room down by the filter.

Thanks alot guys!
I got it all together now.

Just one more question...what type of psi should it be reading at normal operating ranges?? I took it for a little drive this morning, and it was reading around 30psi at highway speeds. My water Temp was around 180-200, and my voltmeter was up at 15-16 volts.

Are these good numbers or what?

Thanks!

thats about what mine is, but I have about 50 PSI @ 3K rpm, it goes to 35-40 at idle. Voltage is about right, mine jumps to 15 or so cruising, remember its a volt meter, not amperage so it will rise as the alternater puts out more current to charge the battery and run your accessorites and distributer.
