is there a way to have you mufflers cut off and have all of the exhaust come out of the cutout and still be able to put something back on to pass inspection? i know that with a traditional cutout they say only 85% comes out the cutout.
I am not sure why you would want to...a properly built exhaust system can make more torque and hp than a open exhaust system. If you must have open exhaust, you could always just unbolt the pipes from the headers, and bolt them back up for inspections. The local police will get to know you very well with open headers or cutouts.
In college, I had a 68 LeMans Sprint. For you younger guys, that's a Hi Po OHC 6, which they called the "poor man's GTO"
Anyway, I went to replace the exhaust pipe, and the one the muffler supply house brought out to me had a cutout. I'd never seen one, and I told them to put it back on the shelf.
