Hey guys. Just trying to wrap this up.

I used spectre 3" couplers to keep the original air vents. Photos on link attached.

Compressor and mount is coming from Kwik performance.

Issues:

1.Where can I find a better looking replacement center vent?
2.Do you zip tie the air hoses onto the unit and the vents?
3.If not, how did you secure them?
4. What did you do with the opening / closing push pull buttons by the dash vents?
5 . Do you HAVE to caulk/seal the kick plate vents? Why?
6. Why don't the two heater pipes have grommets? what size do you get?

1. The GM vents or quality repro.
2. No
3. Duct tape!
4. Mines a 69. Not sure on a 68.
5. Yes, so the air doesn't enter the cabin when the vent is shut. The cowl (where the outside air comes from) is a high pressure area and the cabin is low pressure.
6. My firewall cover does have grommets.. Is that what you mean?

I was also supplied a very lame center vent with my VA kit. I bought a repro and used that instead. Some mods were required. I used Plastex's ABS welding kit to make/modify parts to make them work together.

3. I wouldn't use duct tape to seal vents, it dries out over time. HVAC uses foil tape. Another suggestion is stainless steel tyraps.
4. Are they missing? If still there, leave it?
5. Yes, I use clay weatherstripping in the roll, place a couple beads about the circumference, the flange, of the vent, then install kick panel - seals up fine.
6. Measure ID of hole and buy grommets by the size measured.
