Anyone running FiTech ?? My buddy just installed this set-up on his GTO and he can only drive 50 yards and the car dies and will not start unless you put fuel in the throttle body. He only has 6in of vacuum because of the cam he is using. Maybe more vacuum needed ?? Any ideas ?? Thx

Radical cams and self tuning EFI generally don’t play well together.

He should call Fitech with his cam specs.

I've had an FiTech system on my car for two years and put over 2500 miles on it with no problem. I would call FiTech or send an email. They will reply. It might sound like a stupid question, but did he follow the directions? The trouble shooting procedure will be different, depending if he is running the fuel command center or a pump in the tank. Either way, I think he needs a return line to the tank. Good grounds are also very important on that system. Once he gets the issue worked out, he will love it. Throttle response is awesome at low RPM.

Good Luck with your trouble shooting

Manifold vacuum has nothing to do with fuel starvation. The system is pressurized by the pump. Check the return line?

You can figure it out

The fuel regulator is controlled by vacuum.

Tell us about the cam in your car. What sort of vacuum does it produce?

There is a vacuum port on an external bypass reg. However even if not connected at all it will not cause the issue he is experiencing.

I would venture to guess he is loosing or getting dirty rpm signal which causes the system to not see rpm and shuts off fuel.

Good issues raised above. Has he verified proper fuel pressure?

Isn’t there a setup parameter for vacuum/camshaft with the Fitech system? I thought there was.

I think John has installed a Fitech system. Hopefully he will chime in. Edit, never mind... :grin2:

Thank you John. I will look at his wire set-up.

Thanks Don, he checked fuel pressure at the pump only. I told him that was no good. I suggested to check fuel pressure at throttle Body.
