Floor Shifter Replacement

272 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Rustbucket1
The 67 I bought was originally a column shift. The previous owner installed a floor shifter, which doesn't work well and can't be used with the console. I have the original 67 center counse and would like to use itl. What floor shifter can anyone recommend to fit the console and utilize the gapping hole in the floor? If I can't find a suitable shifter, I was planning on getting a cable type shifter and patch the hole and forget about the console. Gas Automotive tire Metal Auto part Wire

The hole was covered with some type of leather. I didn't notice this and the rusted floors until I pulled the carpets. When I bought the car the carpets looked good. So I didn't expect anything. It's not noticeable from the underneath the car. Check out the photos.

You'll have to patch the current hole and then cut the correct hole for the factory style shifter. I used Shiftworks for the shifter on my 67 that was originally a column shift. Search this site for correct hole location and dimensions.

Thanks. This really helps. I'll give them a call.
Shiftworks is a good company. I suspect you could get the PG detent plate as they refurbish stock floor shifters to the TH350 detent plate but assume they could also just provide it with the PG one. It would be a rod shift attachment to the PG

Thanks. I'll check it out.
That looks just awful to use and fix.

I haven't the car since I bought the car. Once the fix the electrical problems and oil leak, I'll get the trans tunnel and floors repaired. Thanks.
