Looking to replace my front speakers. i went with a retro radio motor 5 unit...25watts RMS.

Want to put the speaker sin stock location behind the dash. and thought son which is better, one speaker with dual cone voice/tweeters OR two separate 3.5 inch speakers?

one brand over another?

wattage handling (most seem to only advertise "peak" power, and not the RMS handling...

I have seen a dual voice coil 4x10 with 2 tweeters, people using two 3.5" speakers, and even two 4" speakers on adaptors and you just have to keep in mind, there is no left to right separation due to how things are in these setups but I think the biggest thing is knowing how a speaker works and what can be done to get the best sound out of it.

For example, if you have a speaker just sitting there and send sound to it, it's basically flapping in the breeze and reproduces sound but the lower the sounds, the less and less it can reproduce due to what they call an acoustical short circuit. By doing what you can to seal off what sounds are eminating from the frontside of the speaker from the backside, the better it will sound on the lower midrange and bass signals.

Here are some setups I have done through the years and when buying speakers, buy the ones that sound best to you. It's like a color choice. No real right or wrong but why get something you do not like.

In the setups I've done, cover the topside with a black grill cloth to where once the system is installed you do not easily see the speakers through the factory slot openings. The cloth just gives a better overall more finished look.

You may also find yourself down the road either installing bass blocker filters inline on the front speaker wires or engaging a high pass filter on the radio to limit what the smaller speakers are wanting to reproduce.
