Now, I know some of use try real hard for originality and some of use just want our Camaro's to run good. Some of us want both, so I decided to put my front spoiler back on my 68. I took it off because I have to drive down the Grand Canyon to get in to my garage and it would never last. Anyway, I don't see the spoiler in any of the assembly literature. Has anyone seen an increase/decrease in power or better cooling with their spoiler on or off?

I have not noticed any difference with or without. I have a friend with two Trans Am Vintage Camaro race cars and they both have them. It is supposed to exert some down force, but if it slowed the car down I am sure they would not use them.

Pages 247 and 476 of the 69 Assembly Manual have the spoiler assembly for the 69; I would imagine it is in the 68 manual as well. They are not laid out very conveniently, so it's hard to easily find some things.

The spoiler reduces front end lift by reducing the air flow under the car. This increases stablity and, actually, speed by keeping the front end lower. If it were a race car, the spoiler would be much lower to the ground; check out TransAm or GT races. There are a lot of posts on this topic if you do a seach.
Some of the tests were run in a wind tunnel by GM back in the sixties.
I don't know if if was psychological or real, but my 69 seemed to wander less after I installed the spoiler.
