I have a 67 and the fuel gauge reads beyond full. I purchased the car with the problem so I hooked up another factory gauge and the same thing happens. Both gauges will move to the 3 oclock position on the gauge when the power is on. I moved the needle to another position and it still returns to the same 3 oclock position when the power is on. Any help please.

Very common problem. Bad wire, connection, or sender unit.
Gauge is probably ok
Spec is: 0 ohms empty, 90 ohms full. If you connect the gauge to ground it should go to empty.
An ohm meter would help diagnose the problem.

Found the problem....The hot wire from the sending unit wasn't connected to the tan wire in the trunk. Not plugged in at all. The ground from the sending unit was fine. Thanks again for the help.
