i have a 87 i-roc w/a 305 h.o. motor this was a tpi motor but now is carb.the probleme im haveing is the new fuel pump is vapor locking is there anyway to stop this from happening?

Get a fuel filter from a 1969 cadillac or so that has a fuel filter that has a little T coming off the carb side. Many air conditioned cars used these filters.

The small T fitting has a jet inside that will bleed off a little fuel and return it to the tank.

Place the filter within a foot of the carb.

Plumb this small line into the origonal fuel return line of the car.

Original return fuel line? Mine doesn't have one. Can damage be caused by not having one?

69, only for FI cars, dont sweat it.

David, off topic. A LOLA!!!!! Whoa baby. too cool. Saw a kit way back in the 70's and couldn;t help but think how nicely a ZL1 would fit in there.

I went from autocrossing a 67 Camaro to road racing the Lola. It scared the you know what out of me for a fiew years!
The biggest problem was the I assumed the suspension must be close to right in the spring rate area and it was way too soft. I'm now running rear springs twice the rate as what came with it!

I got a big thrill two years ago. I got to run in the same vintage race as Mark Donohue's 917/30 1973 Can Am Championship winning car! The guy passed me and hit the throttle on it and it has 1200 hp and weighs about nothing! He flat disappeared in front of me!
My car is no slouch with 1600lbs and 550 hp but the 917 and the big block chevys are that much again faster.

Big block engines have been tried in the early Can Am lolas but there were problems associated with the installations that prevented them from being fast for long.
The brakes are 12" but not vented rotors, they are solid so more speed and more weight can cause even more problems than were seen with a small block.

There was one team that used a Chrysler Hemi in a T-70!
Parnelli Jones used an offy in one and won at Laguna Seca in 66 I think. He also hit a bunch of other cars in the proccess and nerfed them off the track.

What kind of fuel pump are you useing? Is the stock fuel pump still in the gas tank?

the fuel pump im useing is a purolator 7 psi eletric pump and the pump in the tank has been removed so i have no idea whats wrong with this car the performance is great when it dont vapor lock in the middle of the road

There are many things to cause vapor lock. I don't know what carb you are running, but if you don't have a thicker insulator gasket heat can be transfered into the carb causing the gas to boil, or vapor lock. If you are running an electric fuel pump as you say, how are you routeing the fuel line up at the engine? It seems to me that rubber fuel hose collects heat worse,regardless what ever fuel,line/hose, if it is touching the engine any where this acts like a heat sink into the fuel line causing hot fuel-boil-vapor lock.

well guys u wouldnt belive me if i told u this but i got the beast fixed and u wouldnt belive how i got a harwood outlaw super series hood on it with a 4inch lift in the back and the problems stopped runs cooler and performs better than ever thx for all the feed back guys
