I run a quart of redline mtl and fill the rest with Schaffer 90 wt.

The redline helps the trans shift a-lot faster, and the Schaffer is an excellent parfin base oil that will not build up. Also I have knoticed a temp drop of about 40 degrees F.

Use 90wt gear oil I just had to cut a mainshaft in two to get second gear off because first welded itself to the shaft. It had some kind of red fluid in I dont know what it was but it wasn't 90wt

Thanks for the posts! Is there a big difference between say 75-90 and 75-105? Some go even as high as 120 I think?? This car will be driven in temps between 50-100 degrees outside.
And when filling, I just fill it up 'til it's even with the fill hole is that correct? Thanks again.

Your right, I got lucky none of the parts suppliers have Muncie main shafts but I found a good one at a local trans shop.

Yes there is a difference betheen the 75W90 and the heavier oils. The trans will be harder or slower to shift with the heavier oil. It will also be easier to shift with the Amsoil in it over a petrolium oil.
