The VIN tag AND the Trim Tag have both been off the car. Was it done during the restoration? And yes, check your hidden VIN's to make sure they match.

Most of the time you don't need to remove the cowl. You "should" be able to flash a light between the grilles and see the partial VIN.

That's not a repro dash but it could be a late 1970's GM X-body dash. You had to cut the top off as the rest doesn't interchange. That's how dash rust was repaired back then. (Thanks Bill)

Exactly. There are four reasons you can't see the partial VIN:

1. You're looking in the wrong place
2. The car's been repainted and the paint's too thick
3. There's bondo or other filler in that area
4. The partial VIN's been removed (NOT good!)

I've never heard of the "hidden vin" but I'm no expert. Does anybody have a more wider picture they could post?
